Frequently Asked Questions
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a complete system of health care based on six foundational principles.
The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): The human body possesses an innate ability to heal itself given the correct tools and environment to do so.
Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam): Naturopaths aims to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness instead of just treating symptoms.
First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere): Naturopaths always avoid harming the patient by utilizing the most natural, least invasive and least toxic remedies
Doctor as Teacher (Docere): Naturopaths educate their patients in the steps to achieve and maintain health. Self-responsibility for health is greatly encouraged.
Treat the Whole Person: Each person is assessed as a whole, and individual physical, emotional, mental, and environmental factors are considered.
Prevention: Naturopathic medicine focuses on overall health, wellness and disease prevention.
What is the difference between a Naturopath and a Medical Doctor?
Naturopaths are trained to use only natural products, lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments to balance health issues. Naturopaths are trained in pathology testing and use minimal invasive treatment plans. Naturopaths are not to take the role of a medical doctor. I prefer working in conjunction with your Medical Doctor whenever possible.
Are Naturopathic remedies safe to take while taking medications prescribed by my doctor?
Yes. I always ensure any naturopathic remedies prescribed will have no interactions with medications you are currently taking.
What is the difference between supplements or remedies prescribed by Prescribing Nature and those from a health food store or Pharmacy?
Many supplements that are sold in pharmacies and health food stores are not the best quality. They are often very weak, poorly absorbed or are the wrong form of the nutrient. Supplements prescribed through our clinic are “Practitioner Only” meaning that they are the best quality available and are generally more absorbable and bioavailable. Prescribing Nature’s herbal and homeopathic remedies are not generic formulas but rather prepared and mixed according to the individual health requirements of the patient.
What methods of payments do you accept?
We accept credit card (No Amex), EFTPOS, cash in clinic. For interstate clients, we take credit card payments.
Can I Claim Your Services on Health Insurance?
Yes but it depends on your insurer and your insurance plan.
Please check with your insurer whether or not you are covered for naturopathic consultations.
